Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about the world's rarest chocolate, shipping logistics, and our sustainability practices.
What makes To'ak chocolate so unique and premium?
To'ak uses 100% pure Heirloom Nacional cacao, a variety once thought to be extinct. We treat our chocolate like fine vintage wine, employing long-term aging processes in wooden casks and focusing on single-origin terroir from the Piedra de Plata valley in Ecuador.
How do you ensure the chocolate doesn't melt during shipping?
We use specialized temperature-controlled packaging, including insulated thermal liners and non-toxic gel ice packs. We also monitor global weather patterns and may briefly hold shipments during extreme heatwaves to ensure your chocolate arrives in perfect tempered condition.
Do you offer international shipping?
Yes, we ship globally via express couriers. Shipping costs and delivery times vary by destination. Please note that customers are responsible for any local customs duties or import taxes required by their country.
Is To'ak chocolate organic and fair trade?
While we are not officially certified 'Fair Trade,' we practice 'Direct Trade,' paying our farmers significantly above fair trade market prices. Our cacao is grown using organic practices in high-biodiversity agroforestry systems, though official certification varies by specific harvest.
What is your return policy for food products?
Due to the perishable nature of chocolate, we cannot accept returns. However, if your order arrives damaged or if there is an error in your shipment, please contact our concierge within 48 hours of delivery with photos, and we will arrange a replacement or refund.
How should I store my chocolate once it arrives?
To preserve the complex aromatic profile, store your chocolate in a cool, dry place between 16°C and 18°C (60°F–65°F). Avoid refrigeration if possible, as humidity can cause sugar bloom and odors from other foods can affect the flavor.
