“Lemon ants” are a surprising ingredient used by native Amazonian communities to flavor many dishes. Endowed with a delicate citronella aroma, this unique recipe of chocolate with ants will delight the most refined and adventurous palates.

As a food source, ants are nutrient-rich and ecologically sustainable. Amazonian communities use them as a condiment in many preparations, ranging from soups to Tucupí-based sauces. Despite having an abundance of protein, vitamins, and minerals, ants are not a familiar ingredient to many people in the West. Combined with chocolate they rise to the level of a gastronomic delicacy.

The lemon ants are sourced from the Muruy-Muyna community in the Amazon region of Colombia. Like nature, our ingredients change flavor with the seasons. Enjoy the subtle variations in aroma and flavor profile from harvest to harvest.
